I KNOW.......What's up with the title for this blog post? What advice could a 4 year old have for Jesus? Notice though, I did not say that it was good advice....
Jayson and Jordan have been home for a little over 3 months now and the miraculous changes and adjustments that we have seen in these two is amazing. Two little boys, that came to the US only knowing the words Mommy and Poppa in English are now chatting up a storm....so much so that Jim and I looked at each other in the car last weekend as we were driving to dinner with Jay and Jordy in the back seat bickering over what song should be playing on the CD that we said to each other, "Maybe we shouldn't have them learn so much English".... ;)
One of their favorite things to do before bedtime is read. For the past MONTH, I've been reading "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See".......I'll tell you what Mommy sees.....I see me stabbing myself in the eyes if I have to read that book one more time. Just kidding!
This week we have moved on from Brown Bear to the book Jesus, the Good Shepherd. We read it every night and every night we talk about Jesus and how he loves every person, every animal, every thing.....including their John Deere tractor. Jay asked, if Jesus loved that too....of course he does but only when you are not trying to run over Gracie with it.
In the book, Jesus is the good shepherd to his believers/ followers and just as a shepherd is with his flock he tends to them both day and night guiding and protecting them. I tried to explain to the boys that the sheep represented people but you can imagine the blank stares and sound of chirping crickets that I received back....they were looking at me like I was crazy! They were just mesmerized by the cute little sheep. Then we get to the page pictured below:
OH GREAT....yeah Jayson, Jesus will take his Staff and whack the evil man over the head with it! Some how, I don't think this book about Jesus was written to promote violence but I won't try to explain that one to Jay just yet.
So, as for Jayson's advice to Jesus, I guess it could work for us too and if you find yourself ever confronted by Evil, just go find a stick and whack it over the head with it!
By the way, he loves the story of David and Goliath too.....why? Because David has a sling shot and a stone and of course uses it to clock Goliath in the forehead with it, again defeating the mean man! BOYS- gotta love them! :-)

The evil man is lurking and wants to hurt or steal Jesus's sheep.....after much thought Jayson says, "Mommy, mean man no hurt Jesus sheep. Jesus take stick and "thoooommmm" mean man on his head. Go away mean man!" OH GREAT....yeah Jayson, Jesus will take his Staff and whack the evil man over the head with it!
