We interrupt this program for a MELTDOWN already in progress!
Back in November when we met our 2 boys in Ethiopia for the first time, we met a spunky almost 4 year old that we thought was going to be the one that was going to keep us on our toes and have the major tantrums! We also met his brother a quiet, shy 2 1/2 year old that wouldn't really talk and looked to his brother for approval on everything. He was such a sweetheart!
FAST FORWARD to today, 5 months later from our first meeting and 7 weeks home ...... I can now say that my shy, quiet little 2 1/2 year old completely mis- represented himself in our first meeting! He played us for a fool! This little guy can have some super sized meltdowns!!! Right down, to the crying, arms and legs flying and flopping around like a flounder on the floor. Geessshhhhh!!!!
We knew that we would have some issues with communication and the fact that they were experiencing loss and greiving but the meltdowns that are happening are typical to any average toddler, let's see.......
Tell him NO!- MELTDOWN!
His brother doesn't give him the toy that he is playing with- MELTDOWN!
Food isn't ready when he is ready to eat- MELTDOWN!
Doesn't get the same exact thing his brother has- MELTDOWN!
So it looks like no matter what country your kid is from tantrums and meltdowns are universal!
My little guy just decided to wait and "save all his drama for his new mama!" :)
